Margaret G. Green Allegany, NY Margaret G. Green, 95, of N. 6th St. passed away Monday (July 13, 2015) at the Olean General Hospital. Born November 15, 1919 in Arkwright she was the daughter of Myron and Eva Ahrens Griswold. On August 12, 1950 at the Fredonia Methodist Church she married Charles E. Green who predeceased her December 11, 1986. Mrs. Green attended a rural elementary school and graduated from Cassadaga High School in 1938. She later graduated from SUNY Fredonia in 1942. She taught school for 18 years in the Dalton, Frewsburg, Wellsville, Depew and Olean school districts. She had been a very active member of the Cattaraugus County Bird Club, the Allegany Area Historical Association, the Cattaraugus County Mental Health Association and the Olean General Hospital Auxiliary. She was a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Olean, the League of Women Voters and the New York State Teachers Association. Surviving are a son Thomas (Jeanie) Green of Hudson, MA; 2 granddaughters Sarah and Katherine; a sister Mildred Griswold Simpson of Westfield and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 3 sisters Ruth Griswold, Mary Kapple and Flora Hotchkiss. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Saturday (July 18, 2015) at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church in Olean. Rev. Bruce Levine, pastor, will officiate. Following the service there will be a reception in the church fellowship room. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 212 Laurens St., Olean, NY 14760 or to the Allegany Area Historical Association, PO Box 162, Allegany, NY 14706.
